Infiltration Mission at Iga-ryu Ninja Museum: Bypass the Traps and Find the Scroll

An interactive program set in the Iga-ryu Ninja Museum where you use shinobi wisdom and skills to complete a "Scroll Recovery Mission." As a member of the ninja clan, you will observe the guards, master hidden contraptions, and infiltrate the manor. This immersive experience allows you to feel the practical strategy of the Iga Ninja by utilizing real trick features and secret passages.

    Mission Start
    Your mission begins as you step into the role of a ninja. Observing the guards from the shadows, you carefully assess the surroundings. Through Kuji-kiri, you focus your mind and prepare for the task ahead.
  • 02
    Infiltration – Silent Entry
    Using strategic distraction, you create an opening to enter the residence. Once inside, you remove your sandals and move silently, avoiding detection at all costs.
  • 03
    Utilizing Hidden Mechanisms – The Wisdom of Ninja Houses
    You will learn and use traditional mechanisms such as revolving doors (donden-gaeshi), hidden stairways, and secret passages. When guards approach, you hide using techniques like “uzura-gakure” to evade capture.

    Combat & Evasion – Survival Techniques
    As guards reappear, you escape through hidden passages and conceal yourself within the garden landscape. When necessary, you apply defensive techniques such as spear deflection, distraction, and restraint. You will also experience traditional herbal knowledge used for healing.

    Scroll Retrieval – The Core Mission
    Re-enter the residence and navigate traps such as makibishi (caltrops) and naruko (noise traps). Search beneath the floors and in inner chambers to locate the hidden scroll, and secure it while evading pursuit.
  • 06
    Mission Complete – Proof of Achievement
    Return safely from the mission and commemorate your success with a photo alongside an armored warrior, marking the completion of your ninja assignment.
