The Iga Ninjutsu Four-Hour Immersion - From Dojo Training to Field Rations and a Mountain Castle Mission

This program is a full-scale training experience lasting approximately four hours and includes lunch.

Ninjutsu is a comprehensive art of survival cultivated through centuries of living in harmony with the natural environment of Iga. This four-hour immersive program takes place in Oku-Iga, a region long associated with historical shinobi, and offers a deeper encounter with both the philosophy and practice of this tradition.

Following foundational training in the dojo—where you will learn posture, breathing methods, and mental focus—you will steady the body with simple “shinobi provisions,” including kamado-cooked Iga rice and homemade miso soup. In the latter half, the experience moves to a mountain castle site for a live scroll-retrieval mission. Through climbing techniques and reading the terrain, you will engage with the essence of the ninja: intelligence gathering and the wisdom of survival.

  • 01
    10:00–12:00 | Foundational Dojo Training & Lecture
The experience begins in the dojo with a lecture on the philosophy and historical background of ninjutsu. You will then practice fundamental techniques such as posture, breathing methods, mental focus, and body control. Beyond physical skills, you will gain an understanding of why ninjutsu is regarded as a “comprehensive art of survival,” preparing both mind and body for practical application.
  • 02
    12:00–13:00 | Shinobi Provisions (Lunch)
A simple, locally sourced meal will be served within the facility. This includes onigiri made from organically grown Iga rice cooked over a traditional kamado hearth, homemade miso soup from garden-grown ingredients, grilled fish, pickled vegetables, and ninja tea. Rather than modern cuisine, this is practical sustenance—food designed to restore the body and quietly build strength for what follows.
  • 03
13:00–14:45 | Mountain Castle Scroll Retrieval Mission
The training moves to an authentic mountain castle site, where you will undertake a mission to retrieve a hidden scroll. Applying climbing techniques, reading the terrain, and sharpening situational awareness, you will experience firsthand the primary duty of the ninja: intelligence gathering in a real natural environment.
  • 04
    14:45–15:00 | Return to the Dojo &
After completing the mission, you will return to the dojo for a commemorative photograph, marking the conclusion of your training and a memorable moment from your immersion into the world of shinobi discipline.

In case of rain, the experience will take place inside the dojo, as mountain activities may be unsafe.

Please note that the course includes some inclines and uneven terrain
